With agents working remotely, ensuring compliance with federal E911 laws can be challenging. Kari’s Law and Ray Baum’s Act require users to access 911 and provide a dispatchable location. 911 Secure’s SENTRY Cloud Enterprise™ for Amazon Connect simplifies E911 compliance for both on-premises and remote agents.
A key component, SENTRY Gatekeeper™, runs in the system tray, allowing agents to self-report location changes. If an agent moves—like to a coffee shop—Gatekeeper prompts them to update their location. When a location is set, a shared callback number is assigned, ensuring reachability in emergencies without requiring a DID. This approach enables Amazon Connect to manage call routing within AWS, eliminating reliance on external routing.
SENTRY Gatekeeper™ associates each user’s location with their AgentID. When a 911/933 call is placed, AWS invokes a Lambda function that queries SENTRY Cloud™, returning:
This client-side application is licensed from 911 Secure and is designed to allow remote users with softphones on laptops to quickly and easily update their current location ensuring continuous, seamless E911 call processing and routing no matter where they are in the United States or Canada.
